The final workshop of ECO-COMPASS in Slovakia, organised by the Civic Association Spoluprácou pre lepšiu budúcnosť - Veľký meder, took place on 15 February 2024 at the Legend Hotel in Dunajska Streda.The workshop was attended by 35 participants - including  psychologists, special education teachers, environmental education professionals, counsellors, social workers, lawyers, social educators, volunteers from different organisations and fields - employers running sheltered workshops, educational and social institutions, NGOs, umbrella organisations, organisations providing counselling services for disabled/mentally disabled citizens and the Centre for Environmental Education.

The main topic of the workshop was the promotion of the environmental educationof people living with an intellectual disability. During the workshop, the ECO-COMPASS project and its outcomes were presented, in particular the Innovative environmental education - for professionals and for people with intellectual disabilities, the online platform and the ECO-COMPASS project guide. In addition to the coordinator, the Association for Help to People with Intellectual Disabilities in Dunajská Streda  was presented as a partner organisation and the Environmental Education Centre Dropie, whose activities were included in the ECO-COMPASS good practice collection.The workshop presented the results and experiences of the pilot testing of the training. Participation in the pilot testing helped to raise the knowledge level of the participants and to develop their environmental skills and competences.

The practical application of the skills they have acquired has made them more environmentally friendly in their everyday lives. The workshop highlighted the importance of lifelong learning activities for both professionals and people with intellectual disabilities, and was useful for networking and establishing synergies between professionals and experts in different sectors and fields, including the environment and environmental creation, and between organisations in adult education.The participants found the training materials, the online platform of high quality and the participation at the workshop very useful. They gained up-to-date information and experience that they can use in their daily practice. The evaluation concluded that the participation of people with intellectual disabilities in environmental education not only serves to provide equal opportunities and promote an inclusive society, but also plays a significant role from the point of environmental sustainability.
